OUR STORY

“To some, we say it all started as an office romance. But to us, it started as two best friends—and really, from the very beginning, it was love at first sight (even if we didn’t quite know it yet).”

Sophie first walked into the office a few weeks before her official start date to meet the team. Blake, completely caught off guard, blurted out something awkward about her eyes or eyelashes (not exactly the smoothest opener—but somehow, it worked). On her first day, fate (and management) paired us up. Blake was tasked with showing Sophie the ropes, which meant delivering 120 tacos to clients across the Denver Tech Center. We managed to hand off maybe 20 before heading back to the car, where we spent the rest of the afternoon with 100 tacos in the backseat—talking about everything from ex boyfriend and girlfriends to her kids’ future names to the shutters Sophie wanted on her dream home (white house, black shutters - not negotiable). That day ended with a margarita at one of the worst Mexican restaurants in the Tech Center while the rest of the office went elsewhere.

From that moment on, we never went a day without talking. Whether it was work, friends, or family, we were always in touch. We quickly grew to love each other as friends, even though the love was clearly something more. Then came a Fourth of July trip to Palm Springs. That was the turning point where “best friends” became undeniable partners.

From there, the adventure really began. We started dating in Denver, navigated dating long distance when Blake’s job moved him to Austin, and kept building our relationship once Sophie made the move south. After a few years of surviving the Texas heat (and bugs), we decided it was time to return to where it all started: Denver, Colorado.

At the start of the new year, before Blake began a new job, he begged for one more trip. Park City was the pick—a place close to his heart that he couldn’t wait to show Sophie. But he had other plans up his sleeve. On the first day of the trip at Blue Sky, the day ended with a private proposal nestled into the Wasatch mountains. It was absolutely perfect.

“Looking back, we laugh at how it began—an awkward eyelash comment, a car full of tacos, and a margarita at the worst Mexican restaurant in town. But from that day forward, it’s always been love. And now, we are so excited to celebrate that love with all of our favorite people in Ojai.”
